Tyler Wright is the reigning two-time World Champion from Culburra, Australia. Labeled a surfing prodigy since childhood, in 2008 she became the youngest surfer in history to win a Championship Tour event, at only 14 years old. Wright then spent years honing her skills, struggling to find the consistency necessary to again win big. In 2016 things finally clicked. Wright won five events in season and ran away with her first World Title. Her second World Title was just as impressive, but for different reason: Tyler was thought to be out of the race after she injured her knee in Europe, but she pressed through the pain and pulled an incredible come-from-behind victory in the final two events of the season. And with the level of talent on the women’s tour hitting new highs in 2018, nobody is welcoming the challenge like Tyler.
This epic shot by Kirstin Scholtz features Tyler Wright on fire at the 2016 Maui Women’s Pro.
